Ugly Love – Colleen Hoover (Review)

Title : Ugly Love

Author : Colleen Hoover

Page count : 322

Publisher : Atria Books

When Miles Archer and Tate Collins meet, sparks fly. Still agonized by a broken past, Miles isn’t your average next door guy, but that doesn’t stop him from making a deal with Tate – only sex and no feelings. As long as she abides by his two rules of never asking about the past and never hoping for a future, he doesn’t see any objection to this seemingly feeling-less relationship. But…

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

I think the highlight of the book was the AMAZING writing. Colleen Hoover has done it again. Written in a very realistic, heartfelt way, neither too bland nor too descriptive, this book was simply wonderful. It’s written in a detached way, and yet expresses just the right emotions.

Characterization was powerful, especially of Miles. The whole transition, from someone with walls around his heart to someone who gives in to love once again, it’s heart-warming. The storyline, I feel, is a bit too overused. I feel that this trope of sex ending into love is way too common in books nowadays, but I loved the way the book was executed. Overall, I think it was a pretty amazing book.

My Rating : 4/5 stars
