Anticipated Spring 2017 Releases

Hello everyone! So today I’m going to talk about all of the book releases I’m anticipating this spring! I wish that I had made this list a month ago, so I could have included the March releases on here too, but nevermind :/ I used to actually make these posts monthly last year, but then realised that talking about new releases seasonally is much easier – I have way more books to talk about. So in this list, I’m basically going to highlight the book releases I am looking forward to reading, coming out this April and May 2017.

I have listed these books below according to my preference – the ones on the top are the books I’m most anticipating and the ones on the bottom not so much – meaning, there’s a more than 90% chance I’ll read the first 6-7 books on the list. As for the other books, I definitely am interested in them, but with the amount of books I already want/have to read, I don’t think I’ll read them any time soon. All the books below are in order of how much I’m anticipating them, the first book being the most anticipated.

[All book titles take you to the GoodReads link. All release dates are liable to change.]

  1. A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOTAR#3) by Saraj J Maas

This is like duh. Of course I’m anticipating this!! I cannot wait to read the third book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, especially with the way book two ended. I’m not that keen on continuing beyond the third book tbh, but as for this one, I’m all in!

Coming out : May 2nd, 2017

2. The Leavers by Lisa Ko

This is basically about a Chinese immigrant who suddenly goes missing – and how her son survives and finds a new life. I’m very excited to read a story set in the Chinese culture, and this book sounds really interesting.

Coming out : May 2nd, 2017

3. Stars Over Clear Lake by Loretta Ellsworth

Two things about this book : it’s set in the 1940s and it’s a story about star-crossed lovers. That’s all I needed to know! I cannot wait to delve into this book!

Coming out : May 2nd, 2017

4. Into the Water by Paula Hawkins

I absolutely loved Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on the Train when I read it last year. I don’t even want to read this book’s summary; the fact that it’s written by Paula Hawkins is enough to make me want to read it!

Coming out : May 2nd, 2017

5. Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh

This is another book I’m sold on only because of the author and the fact that it’s fantasy. I read (and loved) Ahdieh’s The Wrath and the Dawn duology last year, and I’m very, very excited about this book!

Coming out : May 16th, 2017

6. The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

This is the next book I’ll be picking up – I received an eARC from NetGalley – and this book too I’m excited about because I loved the author’s previous book Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. I’ve heard that the book is extremely diverse and a very hardhitting book.

Coming out : April 11th, 2017

7. One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

This is another ARC I received from NetGalley – it sounds extremely interesting; a thriller about 5 people who enter detention and only 4 return.

Coming out : May 30th, 2017

8. Beartown by Fredrik Backman

From what I can gather, this book is about a small town which is participating in a ice hockey competition, and how all the hopes of the town are tethered on the ice hockey team. I’ve never read any Fredrick Backman before, though I do really want to read A Man Called Ove soon. I like the storyline of this book, and am excited to read it!

Coming out : May 2nd, 2017

9. It’s Always the Husband by Michele Campbell

Do you really think I’d believe you if you tell me that when you read the title of this book, you didn’t feel at least something? Just, a spark of excitement. The title of the book suggests that it is a thriller, and it’s about three women who meet in college and become inseperable and yet, twenty years later one of them is urging one other to commit suicide. I don’t know where the husband fits in, but I’m very excited to find out!

Coming out : May 16th, 2017

10. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

I was originally not that interested in this book, because I’ve seen that Indian authors and light, cute contemporary novels don’t really work. When reading from any Indian author, picking up a heavy, literary fiction novel seems to be more satisfactory. However, the buzz for this book is crazy. Plus, since it is about an arranged marriage, which is something I haven’t read much about, I’m kinda keen on picking this one up.

Coming out : May 30th, 2017

11. The Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda

This a thriller, an no I’ve not read the summary (nor am I going to). You can click on the title for the goodreads link!

Coming out : April 11th, 2017

12. The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo

This book is marketed as a mesh of Me Before You and One Day which are both novels I loved to pieces, and some of the very few love stories I enjoyed reading. Though of course I’m not expecting this book to be that good, just the marketing enough makes me want to read it!

Coming out : May 9th, 2017

So those are all the books I really want to read soon! The fact that 12 new books are coming out in the next two months which I’m excited about it mind-boggling – I absolutely cannot catch up!!

Which of these are you anticipating? What are some of your other anticipated books? Which is your most anticipated book of the spring?

  1. Oh my gosh, so many exciting books coming out relatively recently! I didn’t know Paula Hawkins is writing a new book – I actually haven’t had the chance to read Girl on the Train yet but perhaps I will. I’m feeling a bit slumpy at the moment and thrillers usually just HIT the right spot for me. That cover is beautiful, too. ❤
I'm really looking forward to When Dimple Met Rishi, Flame in the Mist, and The Upside of Unrequited. I've read One of Us is Lying and generally enjoyed it, but sadly I don't think it was that mind-blowing. Hopefully you like it better, though!

    1. I hope you pick up the Paula Hawkins books and enjoy them! Even I’m looking forward to those books! Hopefully they’re amazing :) Most of the reviews I’ve read of One of Us Is Lying are pretty meh, so I’ll go in with low expectations.

  2. Really loved this list. Had a lot of diverse genres and books I had never heard of. Like a new Paula Hawkins novel?! I definitely want to pick that one up!
