And it’s book haul time!! I’ve been very particular this year about my book buying – out of my zeal to cut down my unread books – so I’ve been doing my book hauls quarterly this year. These are all the books I accumulated over the last three months – some of which I bought myself, and some I was gifted by my friends on my birthday.
Not Only the Things That Have Happened – Mridula Koshy
This book has been on my radar since last year, and I finally got around to buying it in the bookstore I most often frequent. I know that this is a sad story, and it’s about family life in some small village in India. This is one of the books I’m not super interested in reading tbh, but I will hopefully get around to it sometime. I just bought it in a moment of haste.
Tess of D’Ubervilles – Thomas Hardy
I’ve always wanted to read something by Hardy, and I have no idea where to start from – so decided on this book. Hopefully, it’ll end up to be an amazing read.
Made You Up – Francesca Zappia
I was sent this for review by the publisher and I’ve already read and reviewed it. It’s a YA contemporary featuring a girl with schizophrenia and her experience at her new high school. I think the book portrayed the mental illness well but the rest of the story failed to impress me.
Rebecca – Daphne Due Maurier
I read this 3-4 years back and absolutely loved it. I’ve always wanted to buy a copy for myself, and I finally managed to grab it at a low price online. I really want to give this a reread soon – hopefully this year itself!
Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo
I read this duology last year and it blew me away. Easily my favorite YA fantasy series. I really wanted to own a copy of this, so when this appeared online in paperback for a low price, I had to grab it!
Commonwealth – Ann Patchett
This book released last year, and I bought it online on a whim when I read the summary. It’s a family drama, and I absolutely love family dramas – so I’m very excited to give this one a go!
Tuff – Paul Beatty
I was gifted this on my birthday. I own one other Paul Beatty book – The Sellout – and I’m excited to have both. I know absolutely nothing about this book, but have wonders about Paul Beatty.
Domina – L.S. Hilton
This is the sequel to Maestra and all I know is that these two books are erotic thrillers. I was gifted this on too, and hopefully will get to it soon!
Homegoing – Yaa Gyasi
I bought this in a beautiful hardcover edition for cheap – and it’s a beautiful book. I’ve already read it, and it has become one of my favorite books of the year so far. Highly, highly, highly recommend this.
ACOWAR – Sarah J Maas
This is the finale to Rhys and Feyre’s story in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series and I loved it. I did have a few problems with it, and I still like ACOMAF the best, but I loved reading it nevertheless.
Into the Water – Paula Hawkins
I was gifted this book too – and I cannot wait to read this book. I loved her previous book The Girl on the Train and this one looks just as promising!
Ivanhoe – Walter Scott
I was gifted this too, and though I’ve heard about this classic – I know absolutely nothing about it :P
So these are all the books I received/bought lately! I don’t like how my books are accumulating, I really want to cut down on my unread books – however I also have this need to buy at least some books every few weeks.
Have you read any of these books? Which books have you bought lately? Share below!
Yay! Glad you got your hands on Six of Crows! And that cover of Homegoing is gorgeous! 😍

I just got and finished Into the Water too. I liked it, but it isn’t as thrilling as Girl on the Train.

Great haul! I’m sorry to hear that Made You Up didn’t impress you this much – I heard good things about that one and the author’s new book, Eliza and her Monsters. Do you think you’ll read that one? :)
Also glad to hear about six of crows, I’m probably the last person that hasn’t read the book yet ahah, but I need to get to it someday. So glad you loved it so much :)

I won’t be picking up Eliza and Her Monsters – the plot doesn’t interest me at all and I’m kinda done with YA contemp :P Also, YES you need to pick up Six of Crows!!
