Title : One Day
           Author : David Nicholls
           First read in : 2014

Goodreads summary :
It’s 1988 and Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley have only just met on the night of their graduation. Tomorrow they must go their separate ways. But after only one day together, they cannot stop thinking about one another.
Over twenty years, snapshots of that relationship are revealed on the same day—July 15th—of each year. Dex and Em face squabbles and fights, hopes and missed opportunities, laughter and tears. And as the true meaning of this one crucial day is revealed, they must come to grips with the nature of love and life itself.

Twenty years, two people, one day.

Initial thoughts : I adored this book. I read this over a long time, and in fact the one thing which stands clear in my mind is that this book took me so long. Maybe that is because at the time of reading, I was preparing for my 10th board exams and couldn’t devote that much time to it, or maybe this is the book not to be devoured but taken in slow and steady.
End result? I loved this book. I remember being awestruck about how the book had made me feel so much. It just made me feel so many emotions. It not just made me feel for or about the characters in the book, it even made me feel for me. This book is just so special to me.

Present thoughts : I still love this book, and it’s still one of my favorites. I feel that I have grown and matured a bit more from that time and I can finally understand why the book made me feel so much. I think it’s time for a reread!

So that was my first post for Throwback Thursday. I wrote a whole lot about this meme in this post, do check it out! And feel free to join me! Post your own Throwback Thursday and link it back to this post or the post whose link I mentioned above.

  1. I read this only recently so I thought I could say, “Yay, I’m not the only one who was 30 years late on this bandwagon” but of course, you read it a while ago :P I really enjoyed this story Reading during boards?! Scandal :P
I love remembering what books I previously read and adored so I’ll definitely join in on your Throwback Thursdays next week! :)

    1. Yes sure! I’d love to see you join! And I read a handful of books during boards…in fact, since 12th boards is next year, I might just have to stop reading in a few more weeks…:(
