One of my 2017 Reading Goals is to participate in more readathons! I honestly wasn’t expecting to participate in any before my boards end in April, but then I stumbled upon this low-pressure, fun readathon called The Emoji-a-thon and of course I’m participating in this! The reason why I’m calling this low-pressure is because it runs from February 1st to February 28th (one whole month!!!) and also, out of the 16 challenges in the readathon, we only have to complete FOUR. (How amazing is that?)
This readathon is hosted by NayaReadsandSmiles, MickeyBetweenThePages and dylanthereader5. Here’s the link to the Google document which lists all the emojis/challenges you can pick from : click here!
My TBR!
– read a book about a marginalized group
The Mistress of Spices by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni – I don’t know what this book is about – except that it is written by an Indian-American author and is about Indians. That also makes this book an #OwnVoices book. Also, this book is perfect for the 2017 Diverse Books Reading Challenge I’m participating in, according to which February is for reading books about POC/multiracial/biracial main characters. So yes!
– read a futuristic/sci-fi book
Waking In Time by Angie Stanton – This is an arc I received from NetGalley about a girl moving between different time periods. It sounds interesting, and hopefully, hopefully, it lives up to the interesting premise.
– read a 2016/2017 release
The Fall of Lisa Bellow by Susan Perabo – This is another arc I received from NetGalley, and the cover and the blurb of the book promises an enticing read! Hopefully, I’ll get the review up for this soon for you guys! (This book is releasing in March 2017)
– read a thriller or horror
Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris – This is a psychological thriller I’ve been excited about for a long time now – plus it’s not too long so I’m sure I can get it done soon enough!
These are the four books I’m definitely planning to get to the next month. I might pick up something else – if I have the time – and complete a few more challenges, but knowing me, I probably won’t have a lot of time since Feb will be the month of serious study.
What about you guys? Are you joining this wonderful readathon? How’s your reading going? Any other suggestions for the challenges I mentioned? Please share below!
This sounds like fun. I think I am going to participate in this read a thon as well!
